Viteri's pictorial work unfolds early on, just as a teenager. His academic training in architecture made him receive private classes at the same time with teachers Jan Schreuder and Lloyd Wulf, who arrived in Ecuador in the 50's and opened their workshops for a diverse audience. It is for this reason, in large part, that his early work derives towards abstraction very quickly, taking as reference the contributions of the avant-garde that would be of great significance for the new generations of artists in Ecuador at the time.
Abstract expressionism and informalism in particular will be very present for the young Viteri who, towards 1968, realizes his first assembly, separating it from painting as such. Moreover, this abandonment is essential to his anthropological investigations that reveal a new universe of his own to explore. The painting will take it back to the 90 ', within an expressionist trend that will charge very different formats, themes and interests. The portrait, on the contrary, maintains it as a genre always to be explored in parallel in its various stages.

Political art. It presents a clear, firm and critical position on the events that took place in Quito before and during April 20, 2005. Viteri surprises again with energetic compositions where the characters, deformed by the frenzy of the artist, confront the viewer from the first pictorial plane.
